Grade 4 Teaching Assistant Vacancy (Part time - Permanent)

The Governors are looking to appoint a highly motivated and effective Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking staff. The successful applicant will primarily be working with children either in small groups or on an individual basis within Callands Primary School. This role is part time, with the possibility for more hours. The right candidate is required as soon as possible.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has relevant, recent experience within the age range including Phonics experience.
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to establishing high expectations and ensuring continuous progress and school improvement. 
  • Can contribute and feedback to teaching staff regarding progress and outcomes of children’s learning.
  • Has a positive approach to managing behaviour.
  • Can develop positive relationships with children and staff to assist the progress and attainment of children. 
  • Can engage in aspects of wider school life.

Grade 4 SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Grade 4 Teaching Assistant  Salary - £21 968 - £22 369 (Full Time Equivalent)

We are looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and forward-thinking setting. We are looking to appoint an inspiring TA who is fully committed to doing the very best for the pupils in their care. We are looking for an SEN TA to provide learning and care support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This will involve working with the teacher to plan and deliver activities and assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupil to whom you are assigned. supporting the pupil with routines, transitions and additional nurture.  

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is incredibly passionate about supporting children with special needs and has a proven track record of working with children with complex needs, specifically those relating to Global Developmental Delay (with speech and language difficulties) and ASD.
  • Can create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning.
  • Can aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own by, for example:
    • Clarifying and explaining instructions
    • Ensuring the pupil is able to use equipment and materials provided
    • Motivating and encouraging the pupil(s) as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to pupils’ needs
    • Assisting in weaker areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation etc Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task
    • Liaising with class teacher, SENCO and other professionals about individual education plans (IEPs), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate.
    • Be able to work collaboratively with a variety of agencies, to follow advice given by Behaviour Specialists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
    • Providing additional nurture to individuals when requested by the class teacher or SENCO/other agencies. Consistently and effectively implementing agreed behaviour management strategies.
    • Helping to make appropriate resources to support the pupil.
  • Can establish supportive relationships with the pupil concerned
  • Can engage in aspects of wider school life.
