National Leader of Education Lisa Littler

  • Appointed as Head Teacher at Callands Community Primary School in January 2012, where the school had been subject to Special Measures until November 2011.
  • Callands secured an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement in all areas in 2016 and was in the top 100 Performing and Improving Schools in that year.
  • Designated NLE in 2016
  • As NLE, she has supported a number of schools, and school leaders in Warrington, Halton, Liverpool and Jersey.
  • As well as holding a Masters Degree specialising in SEN, Lisa has also been an LA EYFS Moderator for 11 years.
  • Previously Headteacher of a Catholic Primary School with a high percentage of PPG pupils.
  • Facilitated training through the local Teaching School Alliance and LA.
  • She can support in all areas of school improvement.

Specialist Leader of Education specialising in PE Claire Whittaker

  • Claire is an SLE with specialism in PE.  Claire has previously led a cluster group for other Physical Education Subject Coordinators across Warrington supporting and sharing outstanding practice with others.  Claire is experienced in supporting staff achieve the Association for Physical Education Quality Mark and the School Games Mark.  She can offer support for Primary Physical Education in the following areas: 
  • Tracking progress and analysing data
  • Planning and teaching Physical Education throughout Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Successful transition between the Key Stages to show progression of skills
  • Long Term planning to ensure coverage of all aspects of Physical Education and progression of skills
  • Promoting pupil and staff voice
  • Leading and managing a large number of staff
  • Design, layout and organisation of learning environments; including risk assessments
  • Long Term extra academic activity plan

Specialist Leader of Education specialising in Art Julie Lee

Julie has been working as a teacher for 23 years.
She can offer support in the ART in the following ways: 
  • Planning whole school schemes of work
  • Art skills training
  • Assessing/Analysing data art throughout the school
  • Conducting Art learning walks around school/classroom observations
  • How to develop a whole school display policy
  • Resourcing for Art
  • Producing successful Sketch Books throughout school

  • Training TAs to confidently support art in classrooms
  • SEND specific support with art
  • Running KS1 AND KS2 art clubs
  • Organising whole school thematic art days/weeks

  • Whole school art activities as fund raisers
  • Applying and preparing for ARTSMARK
She can also offer a full range of strategies to support NQT’s through their first year (with a focus on KS1) including collecting relevant evidence, dealing with parents inc. parent interviews and report writing, phonics teaching/tracking/testing support and preparing for KS1 SATS advice.ulie is an SLE with Art Specialism.  

Specialist Leader of Education specialising in History Charlotte Clayton

  • Charlotte achieved the History Quality Mark in the first term of her RQT Year.
  • She is experienced in completing self-audits.
  • She can support with History leadership, assessment, enrichment and teaching.
  • Charlotte has supported other schools in obtaining a silver or gold accreditation in the subject.
  • She has supported history leads with their initial self-assessment and facilitated manageable bespoke targets to guide their history provision. 
  • Charlotte has delivered whole school INSET and curriculum design.

Specialist Leader of Education specialising in DT Amy Chambers

  • Amy is experienced in designing DT CUrriculums for school.
  • She can  aid assessment in this subject and the other CPD.  
  • Amy has previously led a successful subject leader network meeting for a number of years where she  presented ideas effectively to large groups of practitioners and suggested strategies to support new and established middle leaders within DT.
  • She is able to use her  coaching skills with an ability to motivate and inspire when working collaboratively with others.

Specialist Leader of Education specialising in PSHE Johanna Brinkworth

  • Johanna is an experienced EYFS Lead and practitioner and has supported schools in RI to develop their enabling environments.
  • She can support EYFS moderation processes and planning for the unique child.
  • Johanna has successfully achieved the Mental Well Being Acreditation and the Gold Equalities Award and can support other schools in a journey to achieving these.
  • Johanna can support with enrichment and teaching.

DT Lead - Y2 Jen Westwood

  • Jen has been a primary school teacher for  just over twelve years. She started Callands in September 2018. 

  • Previous to working at Callands, Jen was a member of SLT and was Early Years leader at another local primary school.   

  • Jen leads on DT and has successfully achieved the DT Quality Mark.


RE Lead Y3- Lucy McShane

  • Lucy has been a primary school teacher for 6 years. She joined Callands Community Primary in January 2017, where she now teaches in Year 3.  Her overall experience includes teaching in Years 1, 2 and 3.
  • She has a background in Arts and gained a degree in Art and Event management before furthering her studies with a PGCE in Primary Education with English as a specialism.
  • She led Art & DT at a previous school and now leads RE at Callands. In 2019, she successfully led the school to become the first in the area to gain the Religious Education Quality Mark.

Computing Lead - Kylie Carrier

  • Kylie is in her fourth year of teaching and has been teaching at Callands since September 2018. Kylie is currently a PPA teacher and has experience from EYFS to Year 6. Prior to teaching Kylie worked as an Early Years practitioner in various Early Years settings.
  • She is a trained children’s yoga instructor has run yoga and mindfulness after school sessions.
  • Kylie’s specialism is Early Years and she holds Early Years Teacher Status in addition to her QTS.
  • Kylie holds a Masters Degree in Professional Practice.
  • She is currently the EYFS and Key Stage 1 computing lead.

KS2 English and MFL Lead - Y4 Clare Walsh

  • Clare has been a primary school teacher for ten years. She has worked at Callands Community Primary School for four years, (3 years in year 5 and currently in year 6).  Previous to this she worked in County Durham at a small school of approximately 90 children, where she worked in a mixed 3/4 class. However, her overall experience includes teaching EYFS through to Y6.
  • She is an experienced Literacy Co-ordinator and Key Stage One Lead.  She is currently French co-ordinator.  She has a degree in European Administration, which included living in France for a period of seven months whilst completing a work placement.  

Music Lead - Rob Soulsby

  • Robert Soulsby has been teaching in primary schools since qualifying in 1989 with a Bachelor in Education (Hons), specialising in Art. He has fulfilled many roles as a Middle and Senior leader, coordinating Art, Music and Maths. In 2009, Robert was part of a key government initiative to develop Maths teaching specialists in primary schools and as a result completed a PGCE qualification in Maths.
  • Robert's teaching experience began in Chester, continuing in Halton and then in Warrington. Robert has always been keen to make education relevant to the real world and believes passionately that schools should be places where Music can flourish, so currently, he is driving improvements in Music, especially composition.

  • Beth has been a primary school teacher for three years. She joined Callands after spending her NQT year in a Catholic primary school. 
  • She completed a Law degree before furthering her studies with a PGCE in Primary Education. 
  • She has recently become Science lead and is working towards the Primary Science Quality Mark.
